Dennis Erickson has been the head coach of 6 college programs and 2 NFL teams. Dennis Erickson was starting quarterback since junior year of high school football team in Ferndale, Washington. After playing college football at Montana State, Dennis Erickson immediately started assistant coaching.
Dennis Erickson's first chance to be head coach happened with the University of Idaho in 1981. He ended his career there with a record of 32-15. He next jumped to Wyoming, and though he promised to stay for years, he left after just one season for Washington State.
Next, Dennis Erickson coached the Miami Hurricanes and enjoyed success plus playoff berths. However, scandal followed as the team was accused of breaking NCAA guidelines regarding financial aid. Coach Erickson soon left.
The next 4 seasons found Coach Erickson with the Seattle Seahawks. He returned to college ball with Oregon State in 1999 and he turned the team around. However, he got out of his contract early and returned to coach in the NFL for the San Fransisco 49ers for 2 seasons.
In 2006, Dennis Erickson was on the move again. He went back to college ball at Idaho, signed a 5 year contract, and then broke it after 10 months to coach at Arizona State for $2.8 million and a $150,000 buyout.
